A majority of states now let drivers carry and display oversize / overweight permits electronically instead of a paper copy. Rules and screen-size requirements still vary by state — tap any state on the map to see the current allowance.

- Keep a paper copy in the cab whenever possible — it removes officer discretion from the equation.
- Download the permit PDF locally on your device so it opens without service.
- Provisions / attachments count separately — some states let you show the permit electronically but still require paper accompaniments.
